WA Battery Hub

International Graphite has based its operations in the heart of Western Australia’s emerging battery industry. The region is developing Australia’s sovereign supply of critical minerals and attracting significant private and public sector investment.

Through the Collie Futures Industry Development Fund, the Western Australian Government has invested A$2 million in International Graphite as part of an ambitious strategy to promote the uptake of green energy, capitalise on global demand for critical minerals, and support the transition away from coal-fired power.

Western Australia is renowned for its mining and engineering knowhow and ranked the most attractive location in the world for resource investment, according to the influential 2021 Fraser Institute survey. The WA State Government has committed more than A$662 million to support Collie’s economic transition from traditional coal mining and a further A$3.8 billion for new green power infrastructure.
